Demanding SIT probe in Hangal Gang-rape Case: Ex-CM Bommai to lead protest in Haveri
Bengaluru: Former chief minister Basavaraj Bommai has announced that the BJP will hold a huge protest rally in front of the Haveri SP office in Haveri on January 20 to demand refer the Hangal gangrape case to Special Investigation Team.
Talking to reporters here on Thursday, he said the protest rally would be attended by Leader of the Opposition in the State Legislative Assembly R.Ashoka, state leaders and district leaders.
The Haveri cops had attempted to hush up the Haveri Moral policing and the gangrape cases. The state home minister and the Haveri SP were not ready to admit it. But now the Hangal police personnel had been kept under suspension.
This clearly indicated the dereliction of duty of the local cops. Politics has been playing a vital role in maintaining law and order. The Hangal cops have acted against rules. The victim had been denied a proper medical treatment. The CM has been negligent in this incident. In the wake of this, the BJP has planned a mammoth protest in front of the Haveri SP office on January 20. Denying the SIT probe shows the government’s support to the accused.

The BJP leader said that the CM Siddaramaiah has been gripped by the Modi phobia. The Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been giving a good governance and implemented several welfare schemes. Bommai held Siddaramaiah responsible for the decrease in the state’s fund from 4.7 percent to 3.6 percent for not explaining the real financial position to the 15th Finance Commission.
When the UPA Government was in power did it give the flood relief to the then BJP government? The previous BJP government had distributed Rs 2500 crore flood relief amount to farmers without waiting for the funds from the Government of India.

But no money has been reserved for this purpose. Funds has been released for development and the MLAs have openly said about it. To pacify those legislators, the government has promised Rs 25 crore for each MLA. ” When I was the CM, even the then opposition Congress MLAs had been given Rs 25 crore each. The same yardstick must be applied. The MLAs in the current dispensation are the unluckiest lot”.

Reacting to Karwar BJP MP Ananth Kumar Hegde’s statement, Bommai sought to clarify that none was defending his statement and everyone must be careful while speaking.
